Free tuition for citizens age 62 or older through MSU 62
Missouri State University is pleased to offer a special fee waiver program for adults
who are 62 years of age or older. Eligible students may register for one class per
fall and spring semester and have the required student fees waived. However, the student
must pay special course fees, required textbooks and supplies (including digital course
material charges, such as StreamlinED - see more in our FAQs below), and parking fees. Classes may be taken for credit or on an audit basis.
Participants in this program will be admitted to Missouri State University as nondegree-seeking students. The MSU 62 registration takes place on the Thursday morning before the semester begins. Enrollment for courses is subject to “seats available”
and the required prerequisites. Students must submit the registration forms each semester
they plan to utilize the waiver.
Qualifying students in this classification are:
Missouri resident (living in the state of Missouri for 12 or more months)
Age 62 or older
Nondegree-seeking students
Enrolling in either undergraduate or graduate courses (if postbaccalaureate)
Not able to apply this waiver to intersession, special courses, noncredit, or off-campus
courses
You can search for courses ahead of time with the Class Schedule Search. You can also use this time to seek special permission from instructors if necessary.

Yes. It is imperative that students complete the registration form each semester than plan to participate. In order for us to ensure that Financial Services
can process these waivers in a timely and accurate manner within their deadlines,
we must have all participants' forms turned in at the beginning of each semester.
If we do not have your paperwork on file prior to the second week of courses during
each semester, we will be unable to process a waiver after that time.
Registration forms are processed manually by the Adult Student Services team in the
order that they are received. Online registration forms are typically processed after
the in-person registration event has ended.
Remember that registration is dependent on seat availability and meeting prerequisites.
If you have obtained special permission from the instructor or department, please
forward it to AdultStudentServices@MissouriState.edu. Once your form is processed, you will receive an email from a staff member indicating
whether you have been registered or if there are additional steps needed to move forward.

Missouri State University is required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to furnish
all students with a Form 1098-T for each calendar year with qualified charges and
payments. The Form 1098-T details the qualified charges and payments that hit the
student’s account within a specific year. These include personal payments, financial
aid and waivers. Note that this is based on when the activity hits the account, not
according to the term to which the activity is related. In participating in the MSU 62 program, you are receiving a waiver, and it must be
reported.
These forms must be post-dated by January 31st each year but are typically made available
well before this date. The forms are mailed to the address listed on your My Missouri
State account unless you opt in to an electronic form. Electronic forms are available through your My Missouri State account. If you opt in to receive it electronically, a paper version is not mailed.
You are encouraged to connect with a tax professional if you have concerns about how this may impact your yearly taxes.
